The Unimog 406 is one of the best known Unimogs. It was manufactured by Mercedes Benz in Gaggenau between 1963 and 1989. As the successor to the 403 series, the 406 was the first medium-duty Unimog. Many subsequent Unimogs are partly inspired by the Unimog 406. In agriculture and forestry it was (and still is) the perfect companion, but it has also been used by several armies around the world.
